SCO tests 5G in Gilgit, Pakistan
The Special Communications Organization (SCO) has successfully tested 5G services in Gilgit, Pakistan. The company called this an important milestone for the digital development of the Gilgit-Baltistan region and a step toward next-generation high-speed internet.
5G testing
As Dawn reports, SCO announced the test results in an official statement on Saturday. The company successfully verified the operation of fifth-generation mobile services.

Expected opportunities
According to SCO, the launch of the technology is expected to open new opportunities in information technology, e-commerce, online education, telemedicine, tourism, and digital entrepreneurship. The region's young population may benefit especially from this, according to the company's assessment.
SCO also noted that operational-level testing responds to calls for Gilgit-Baltistan to be included in the new technology. This issue was raised more actively during the nationwide 5G rollout in Pakistan earlier this year.
