Team Heretics still searching for identity after roster rebuild
Following Team Heretics’ loss to NAVI at VCT EMEA Kickoff 2026, head coach Neil "neilzinho" Finlay acknowledged that the team still needs to find its identity. This is a crucial phase for the squad, determining their ability to succeed in upcoming competitions.
In an interview with Esports Insider, neilzinho explained that the team had a strong identity during MiniBoo’s era, and replacing him has proven difficult. Their immediate goal is to qualify for Masters Santiago in Chile, as the coach believes they are capable of reaching it.
Previously, neilzinho was a player and coach in Counter-Strike before moving to VALORANT coaching in 2020. His first global VALORANT event was Masters Berlin 2021, working with G2 Esports. This experience gives him confidence to lead Team Heretics forward with their revamped roster.
Team Heretics is a well-known Spanish esports organization competing in various games, including VALORANT. With a rich history and a loyal fanbase, they stand out on the European esports stage.
Despite current challenges in establishing a team identity, Heretics is preparing for significant challenges in 2026 and has the potential to achieve notable success in international tournaments.
The team’s next steps will depend on how quickly they adapt and build a cohesive playstyle to consistently perform at a high level in future competitions.
