Dashiqiao shifts magnesium industry toward processed products
The city of Dashiqiao in China’s Liaoning Province, known as China’s “magnesium capital,” is shifting its magnesium industry from raw material exports to the production of processed goods with higher added value. Local companies are using proprietary key technologies and entering premium segments of the global market, ECNS reports.
Supplies to more than 60 countries
Magnesium chemical products manufacturer Yingkou Sinomagchem Group has obtained several international certifications, including registration under the EU REACH regulation. The company supplies specialized magnesium fertilizers and feed additives to more than 60 countries.
According to the outlet, local enterprises have been moving up the production chain in recent years. Previously, they mainly exported low-value raw materials and had limited influence over pricing.

Magnesia bricks for high-temperature industries
Yingkou Jinlong Refractories Group produces premium magnesia bricks for high-temperature industries, replacing imported products. The company’s annual production capacity is 570,000 tonnes, with 65% of that volume sold in more than 20 countries.
The company uses smart manufacturing technologies in its production. In particular, industrial robots assemble magnesia refractory bricks in the workshop; according to ECNS, the modernization is intended to ensure consistent product quality.
