Ant International Raises $1.2 Billion to Expand Its Global Fintech Business — Reuters

Ant International, a Chinese fintech company and the overseas division of Ant Group, has raised $1.2 billion in a private funding round. The investors were Ant Group’s parent company and Alibaba Group.

The company plans to use the funds to accelerate its international expansion in the areas of payment services and corporate account management. Ant International intends to expand its presence in global markets and strengthen its financial technology solutions for businesses.

Prior to the completion of this new investment round, Ant International was valued at approximately $10 billion. This capital raise represents one of the largest private financings in China’s fintech sector in recent times.

Ant International is the international arm of Ant Group, which controls the Alipay payment platform and develops digital financial services in many countries around the world. The company continues to work on entering new markets following increased regulatory scrutiny of the technology sector by Chinese authorities, according to Reuters.
