Ford is bringing engineers back due to the ineffectiveness of artificial intelligence
Automotive giant Ford has decided to rehire 350 experienced engineers and specialists from its suppliers, as the artificial intelligence the company had relied on was unable to independently resolve the issue of costly defects.
Automated quality control systems failed to deliver the desired results, causing the company to incur billions in losses from warranty service and vehicle recalls.
The company’s Chief Operating Officer, Kumar Galhotra, and Vice President of Hardware Engineering, Charles Pun, acknowledged the mistake of relying entirely on AI and neglecting human expertise. Now, the technical specialists who have been brought back are successfully identifying the sources of defects before parts even reach the assembly line, thanks to which Ford’s costs related to warranty claims have already begun to decline.

Ford used a trained bear weighing about 360 kg to test the safety systems of the F-150 pickup truck. The animal simulated an attack to test the vehicle’s durability and protective features.
Following the results of inspections conducted in May, the two largest payment terminal networks—EasyPay (LLC “FC ‘Kontraktovy Dom’”) and City24 (LLC “Swift Garant”)—were hit with massive fines: 135 million hryvnias each.
