The end of an era: Ford stops production of the Focus production model
Ford has ended production of its iconic Focus car, which has remained popular in Europe for 27 years. This decision is part of the strategy approved back in 2022 aimed at transforming the company's model range, in particular through the introduction of new electric vehicles - Explorer and Capri - based on the Volkswagen Group platform. The Saarlouis plant where the Focus was manufactured is closing its doors with no clear plans for the future.

This move marks a significant loss for Ford, as the Focus and Fiesta were the company's most popular models in the region. It should be noted that Ford has significantly lost ground in the European market in recent years, falling from second to twelfth place in terms of sales. In response to these challenges, the company has appointed a new head of the European division to restore its position in the market.
The discontinuation of models such as the Focus reflects Ford's new strategy of focusing on electric vehicles and crossovers, but also represents a risk as the abandonment of mass-market models could further impact the company's market share. This is indicative of a shift in consumer preferences that Ford plans to adapt to, but it remains to be seen how this transition will affect consumers.
