Nvidia may invest $3 billion in a data center for OpenAI in Ohio

Nvidia is in talks to invest up to $3 billion in SB Energy—a subsidiary of SoftBank Group that is developing a large-scale data center in Ohio for OpenAI.

According to The Information, this investment is part of broader negotiations between Nvidia, OpenAI, and SB Energy regarding credit support for the project totaling approximately $100 billion.

Nvidia is considering investing half of the planned $3 billion after the deal for the Ohio project is finalized, with the remainder to be invested during SB Energy’s upcoming IPO.

The company plans to go public as early as next month and expects to raise at least $5 billion.

SB Energy specializes in energy projects and data center infrastructure. The company is developing several large complexes aimed at meeting the growing demand for computing power for artificial intelligence.
