Sam Altman declares ‘code red’ at OpenAI amid rising competition, refocusing on ChatGPT improvements

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has announced a “code red” status within the company, temporarily halting certain projects to focus resources on enhancing ChatGPT. The initiative aims to increase speed, reliability, and expand the range of inquiries the AI can properly handle, amid intensifying competition in the AI sector.

The move was prompted by increasing competitive pressure: Google’s new Gemini version has sharply boosted user interest, while Anthropic is strengthening its presence in the corporate segment. This strategic decision could be crucial for OpenAI's fight to maintain AI market leadership, influencing future innovations and shaping the industry’s evolution.
