Uklon Explained the Rise in Fares in Kyiv During the Unrest

In Kyiv, amid ongoing drone attacks, authorities are discussing the possibility of introducing new transportation regulations and capping taxi fares during air raid alerts. Uklon explained that price increases during periods of danger are caused by a dynamic coefficient, as demand for rides surges sharply due to people’s desire to reach safe locations, while the number of drivers on the road decreases.

The service warns against artificially suppressing prices, seeing this as a risk to urban mobility. Capping the fare threshold could lead to drivers refusing to take routes under conditions of heightened danger, which would cause a shortage of cars and deprive city residents of the ability to urgently travel to a safe place.
