Ukrtelecom is preparing to launch a new mobile operator, U Mobile

"Ukrtelecom" is preparing to enter the mobile communications market with a new brand, U Mobile. The service will operate as an MVNO—a mobile virtual network operator that uses another company’s infrastructure without building its own radio network.

The main feature of U Mobile will be the integration of mobile service with Ukrtelecom’s home fiber-optic internet. The company plans to offer subscribers comprehensive packages based on the Fixed Mobile Convergence model—GPON internet and mobile services as part of a single offering.

A “Simka” rate plan lineup is being prepared for the new brand. According to preliminary information, subscribers will be offered packages with 15 or 60 GB of mobile internet, 500 minutes for calls to Ukrainian operators, and 15 SMS messages.

U Mobile also plans to use the calendar month as the billing period—from the first to the last day of the month—as opposed to the four-week billing cycle common among major carriers.

A “Easy Start” period is planned for new customers, and subscribers who complete identity verification or port their number from another carrier will receive a discount. Another discount will be available via a promo code.

However, Ukrtelecom has not yet announced the final plan prices or the official launch date for U Mobile.
