Ukraine has banned the unrestricted use of the term “organic” on food products
The Verkhovna Rada has passed a law on state regulation of organic production, distribution, and labeling of organic products to bring the Ukrainian market into compliance with European standards.
A total of 255 members of parliament voted in favor of the corresponding bill No. 13204-1. The document introduces rules for the cultivation and sale of organic products that are aligned with those of the EU, establishing clear and uniform requirements for their production.
The new measures provide for improvements to the state control system, which will increase the effectiveness of oversight, reduce the number of unscrupulous producers, and prevent labeling fraud. The document also aims to stimulate the development of the agricultural sector, create new jobs, transition to sustainable agricultural development in line with the goals of the European Green Deal, and facilitate the entry of Ukrainian products into international markets.
This was reported by the Judicial and Legal Gazette.
Earlier, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine opened a case against mobile operators Kyivstar, Vodafone Ukraine, and lifecell Ukraine. They are suspected of collusion and unfair competition, specifically reducing the validity period of mobile service packages to 28 days instead of one month.
Following inspections in May, the two largest payment terminal networks—EasyPay (LLC “FC ‘Kontraktovy Dom’”) and City24 (LLC “Swift Garant”)—were hit with massive fines: 135 million hryvnias each.
