Greece plans to require parents to block children's access to online gambling

The Greek government is preparing new rules that will require parents to install a special application to block their children's access to online gambling sites. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced this initiative as a measure to combat widespread underage circumvention of age restrictions.

The application, called Kids Wallet, will be mandatory on all children’s devices. It will automatically block access to gambling websites at the operating system level, making it much harder to bypass restrictions. This step follows earlier government measures limiting social media use for children under 15 years of age.

Additionally, all gambling platforms will be required to implement mandatory user verification via digital IDs and the Kids Wallet app. The new regulations are expected to be in place by January 1, 2027.

These measures are part of a broader policy to protect minors from the harmful effects of online entertainment and to strengthen digital security nationwide.

The introduction of Kids Wallet and mandatory verification rules will enable more effective enforcement of age limits and better protect children from the risks of online gambling.
