China's Hainan Province and Changchun, the administrative center of the northeastern province of Jilin, plan to deepen interregional cooperation in culture and tourism. This was discussed at a press conference in Changchun, ECNS reports.
Joint tourist routes
Chen Tiejun, director of Hainan Province's Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports, said the regions have significant potential for cooperation in various fields. Hainan is known for its tropical climate, while Jilin has resources for winter and snow tourism.
The sides intend to work with both domestic and international tourism markets and participate in each other's major events. The next Hainan Island Carnival is planned to be held simultaneously in Haikou and Changchun.

The regions also want to encourage cooperation between travel agencies and online platforms to create interprovincial routes and increase tourist flows in both directions.
The film industry as an area of cooperation
Hainan and Jilin also seek to develop the tourism brand “Changchun in the north, Sanya in the south.” It is intended to combine Changchun's winter landscapes, ecological resources and film industry with Sanya's coastal tourist attractions, wellness tourism and opportunities for international consumption in Hainan.
Cooperation in the film sector could become a separate area. According to Chen Tiejun, the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port is making the province increasingly attractive for film projects, while Jilin has a long-established film industry. The two provinces can create a platform for interaction in this field, he said.
