Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has stated his intention to develop cooperation with Ukraine, particularly in the energy and defense sectors.
According to the Azerbaijani leader, during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Baku, the parties discussed both political interaction and practical cooperation in the energy sector.
Aliyev noted that joint projects, investments, and initiatives already exist between the countries, and also highlighted SOCAR’s activities in Ukraine.
Separately, he highlighted the prospects for military-technical cooperation, particularly the possibility of joint production in the defense-industrial complex.

The President of Azerbaijan also highlighted the potential for growth in trade between the countries, which currently exceeds $500 million.
Aliyev added that bilateral relations have a solid political foundation, particularly thanks to the strategic partnership agreements signed in 2008 and 2011, which provide for mutual support of the territorial integrity of both states.
In addition, the parties agreed to hold the next meeting at the intergovernmental level in Ukraine.
Ukraine has declared its readiness for a new round of negotiations with Russia in Azerbaijan. This involves a trilateral format with the participation of mediators. Everything depends on whether Moscow is ready for genuine diplomacy.
