Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga held a meeting with Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi, during which the two sides discussed European integration and cooperation between the two countries.
According to Sibiga, special attention was paid to the results of the elections in Hungary and the prospects for cooperation with the new government.
“We expect the first negotiation chapters on EU accession for our countries to open as soon as possible. It is also important to unblock the €90 billion loan and the 20th package of sanctions,” he noted.
The Ukrainian minister also briefed his Moldovan counterpart on the situation at the front and Russian attacks.
In addition, the parties discussed cooperation in the energy, infrastructure, and cultural sectors.
Separately, they discussed preparations for the meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, which will take place in May in Chisinau.
As a reminder, Moldovan President Maia Sandu signed decrees denouncing the founding agreements of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), completing the country’s withdrawal from the organization.
Prior to this, the Moldovan parliament voted to denounce the agreement establishing the CIS, the relevant protocol, and the organization’s charter.
