Didier Deschamps revealed what he plans to do after leaving the French national team
Former France national team head coach Didier Deschamps has no plans to make a drastic change in his career path after leaving the national team.
“I don’t know what lies ahead for me, but it will be something different. And this new phase will be a good one, too. I’ll take on a new challenge with the same heart and the same passion. I’m not going to suddenly become a pastry chef, a politician, or anything else. I’ll stay in soccer—there are plenty of opportunities for that,” the coach said.
Deschamps spent 14 years at the helm of the “Tricolors.” During that time, he won the 2018 World Cup and triumphed in the 2020–21 Nations League. Under his leadership, the national team also reached the finals of Euro 2016 and the 2022 World Cup.
Earlier, Deschamps coached at the club level. His first coaching experience was with Monaco in France. At the helm of the Monegasques, he won the League Cup and reached the 2003–04 Champions League final. He then led Juventus of Turin to the Serie B title. Later, Deschamps guided Marseille to the French league title and also won three League Cups and two French Super Cups with the Provençal club.
Earlier, LNZ extended its contract with defender Oleg Gorin through 2029.
As a reminder, Juventus announced the signing of Turkish national team defender Zeki Çelik, who left Roma after his contract expired.
The Spanish national team became the first finalist of the 2026 World Cup, defeating France in the semifinal match.
