J.J. Spaun wins BMW PGA Championship in England — The Japan Times
J.J. Spaun won the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in Surrey, England, finishing the tournament at 17 under par. In the final round, he carded a 67 — five under par — and finished two strokes ahead of four nearest challengers, including world No. 2 Rory McIlroy and Masters winner Adam Scott.
Finish with four birdies
Before the final round, Spaun was one stroke behind the leader. He made birdies on four of the final five holes, which secured him the title. The golfer said that being left out of the U.S. team for the Presidents Cup by the captain's selection was additional motivation.
As The Japan Times reports, Spaun said he had something to prove this week. He noted that he was disappointed by the decision to leave him off the team, but after the victory he neither texted nor spoke with U.S. team captain Brandt Snedeker.

U.S. captain's selections
Snedeker used his six captain's picks on Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay, as well as Presidents Cup debutants Chris Gotterup, Jacob Bridgeman and Jackson Koivun. Spaun wished the U.S. team success and said he would follow the tournament.
The 2026 Presidents Cup will be held on Course No. 3 at Medinah Country Club in Chicago. In the biennial team tournament, the U.S. team faces an international team of golfers from outside Europe. The Americans have a record of 13 wins, one loss and one draw; their only loss came in Australia in 1998.
