England's cricket team in Birmingham, United Kingdom, defeated Pakistan 3-0 in the Test series. According to Channel NewsAsia, citing Reuters, England won the third Test at Edgbaston by eight wickets.

Root and Cox complete the chase

England needed 130 runs to win but lost Ben Duckett after the very first delivery. His opening partner Emilio Gay was dismissed in the same over after a delivery by Muhammad Abbas.

England captain Joe Root remained unbeaten on 62 runs. On 23, a ball from Mohammad Ali hit his wicket, but the delivery was ruled a no-ball. It was Ali's 17th no-ball of the series.

Pakistan missed another chance when Root, on 38, edged a ball from Abbas, but the first and second slips failed to take it. It was Root's 110th innings in Test cricket in which he scored at least 50 runs; that tally includes 41 centuries.

Series outcome and upcoming matches

Jordan Cox was also unbeaten on 59 runs as England secured victory in the 25th over. Pakistan had a deficit of 320 runs after the first innings but managed to take the match into the fourth day. Debutant Razaulla scored 81 runs from 63 balls on Friday.

This is England's first series victory in 19 months. In December and January, the team will play three Tests against South Africa. Pakistan, which has lost 16 of 21 Tests, will play Sri Lanka in October. During the tour, the Pakistan team replaced seven players in the squad after the second Test and dismissed coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and his assistant Umar Gul.
