In South Africa, Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis will not play in the final two matches of the one-day series against the South African national team due to a fracture of the index finger on his right hand. The 31-year-old was injured during the first ODI in Durban, which the South African team won by 67 runs.

Injury in Durban

Inglis sustained the injury on Thursday while keeping wicket in the first match of the series. Channel NewsAsia, citing Reuters, reported his withdrawal from Australia’s squad.

The Australian team did not name a replacement for Inglis in the ODI squad. Alex Carey is expected to take the wicketkeeping position in the second match of the series, which will be held in Johannesburg on Sunday.

Treatment in Perth

Cricket Australia confirmed that Inglis will return to Perth for treatment. His participation in the three-match Test series against South Africa, scheduled to begin on October 9, will depend on further examination and the progress of his recovery.
