Falcons win maiden CPL title after victory over Kingsmen — Dawn
Antigua and Barbuda Falcons won their first Caribbean Premier League cricket title, defeating Jamaica Kingsmen by eight wickets in the final. Kingsmen made 170 for nine wickets, while Falcons completed the chase at 173 for two wickets.
As Dawn reports, Maaz Sadaqat was Kingsmen’s leading batter, scoring 114 runs and reaching his century off 49 balls. He began the match with a six off the first ball and reached his half-century in the 10th over. Saim Ayub was the only other Kingsmen batter to reach double figures, scoring 29 runs off 22 balls.
Muqeem’s four wickets
After starting at 110 for two wickets, Kingsmen lost another four wickets while adding only three runs. Sufiyan Muqeem dismissed Saim Ayub and Rovman Powell in one over, while Shadab Khan forced Romain Morris to leave the field without scoring. Muqeem finished with four wickets for 14 runs, the best bowling figures in CPL finals. He was named player of the match.

Maaz Sadaqat helped Kingsmen reach 170 runs, but the team could not defend the total. In reply, Rakheem Cornwall scored 20 runs off the first five balls of the chase before being dismissed on the final delivery of the first over. Evin Lewis scored 38 runs, after which Amir Jangoo and Hassan Nawaz put together an unbeaten partnership of 89 runs. Jangoo finished with 57 runs and Nawaz with 47.
Award for Shadab Khan
Shadab Khan was named player of the tournament despite missing his team’s first three matches. In eight matches, he scored 132 runs at an average of 66 and a strike rate of 228, while also taking 11 wickets, including a hat-trick. After the final, Khan said he had performed more successfully because of the role defined for him by the team and psychological freedom. He also noted that he had been out of the game for six to eight months after surgery last year.
For Falcons, this was their third CPL appearance and their first title. Kingsmen reached the final in their debut season. Despite his team’s defeat, Maaz Sadaqat became the first player to score a century in a CPL final and the first Pakistani batter to score a century in the final of any T20 league.
