Yamal scores brace in Barcelona’s 5-0 win over Valencia in Spain

Barcelona thrashed Valencia 5-0 in a La Liga match at the Mestalla stadium in Valencia, Spain. Lamine Yamal scored twice, while the team secured its fourth victory in four opening league matches. According to Dawn, the reigning champions moved into first place in La Liga, three points ahead of Real Madrid.

Yamal’s early goal

Yamal opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a chipped finish after a pass from Fermin Lopez. The 19-year-old player scored again later, but VAR disallowed the goal for offside.

In the 22nd minute, Lopez doubled the visitors’ lead after a pass from Anthony Gordon. In the middle of the first half, Barcelona defender Eric Garcia left the pitch injured after colliding with the shoulder of teammate Rodri. Before the break, the Catalans’ goalkeeper Joan Garcia saved a shot from Arnaut Danjuma, while Lopez hit the post.

Three more Barcelona goals

In the second half, Raphinha, who again played as a centre-forward, scored his sixth goal of the season after a pass from Lopez. Pedri scored Barcelona’s fourth goal following a combination with Dani Olmo.

In the final 10 minutes of the match, Gabriel Jesus made his debut for the Catalans and fired a low shot wide of the goal. Yamal set the final score after taking advantage of another pass from Olmo.
