Former Shakhtar soccer player Vladislav Vakula has been drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Vladislav Vakula, a former midfielder for Donetsk’s “Shakhtar,” has been drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to media reports, the 27-year-old soccer player has already undergone a military medical examination in Lviv and was sent to a training center, where he is to undergo basic military training.
Vakula had been without a club recently. His last team was Zorya Luhansk.
The soccer player joined Shakhtar in 2019 after transferring from Mariupol. However, he was unable to secure a spot on the Donetsk club’s starting lineup. Over the years, he has also played for “Stal,” “Desna,” “Vorskla,” “Chornomorets,” and “Polissya.”

As a reminder, during Operation “Honest Draft,” law enforcement uncovered illegal activities by two recruitment groups from the Kyiv Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support and the Odesa Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support. Ten military personnel were notified of the charges against them.
Earlier, law enforcement detained the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Registration and Enlistment Office on suspicion of receiving bribes totaling 15,000 U.S. dollars. According to the investigation, the official was caught in the act of receiving $10,000 for failing to take mobilization measures against three conscripts, removing them from the “Oberig” system’s wanted list, and ensuring conditions for their continued employment at their places of work.
In Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, a senior lieutenant—the deputy company commander of one of the district Military Registration and Enlistment Offices—was detained on suspicion of assaulting a subordinate servicemember. The man was intoxicated at the time.
