South Korea's national baseball team defeated Chinese Taipei 5-0 in a group-stage match at the Asian Games in Okazaki, Japan. The Korean team began the defense of its title and is aiming to win its fifth consecutive gold medal. This was reported by Korea Herald.
Six hitless innings
Starting pitcher Kwak Bin threw six innings without allowing a hit and recorded 10 strikeouts. Cho Byung-hyun followed with two hitless innings, while Park Young-hyun allowed opponents two hits in his inning but did not concede any runs.
Kwak Bin leads the Korea Baseball Organization this season with 186 strikeouts. His ERA is 2.26.

How the game unfolded
South Korea opened the scoring in the second inning when Park Jae-hyun hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded. Until the seventh inning, the Korean players had scored only one run against Chinese Taipei starting pitcher Lin Yi-wei.
In the seventh inning, Park Jun-soon hit a double and Cho Hyun-woo added a sacrifice fly. Roh Si-hwan brought home another run in the eighth inning, while Yoon Dong-hee finished the game with a solo home run.
South Korea will play its next game against Hong Kong at Toyohashi Municipal Baseball Stadium. The team will then face Thailand in Okazaki. The top two teams from each of the two groups will advance to the Super Round.
