Poland qualify for U21 Euros and retain Olympic chance — Interia Sport
Poland’s under-21 national football team, led by Jerzy Brzęczek, have qualified for the European Championship, which Albania and Serbia will host next year. The tournament will also serve as qualifying for the football competition at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
As Interia Sport reports, the Polish team won nine matches before the final qualifying game and conceded only two goals. However, in Pescara, Poland lost 2–6 to Italy, meaning their direct qualification for the Euros depended on the result of the Greece vs. Northern Ireland match.
Greece won 1–0, allowing Poland to advance to the final tournament as the best team among those that finished second in the nine qualifying groups.
Road to Los Angeles
Sixteen national teams will play in the final stage of the U21 European Championship. In addition to Poland and the hosts, England, Belgium, Croatia, France, Spain, Germany, Norway, Portugal and Italy have already secured participation. Four more participants will be determined in November’s play-off matches.

Europe will have three places at the 2028 Olympics instead of four. They will go to the three best teams at the U21 European Championship. If England, which cannot compete at the Games as a separate team, are among them, the right to participate will pass to the next highest-ranked national team.
Poland’s Olympic history
The Olympic football tournament is held for players under the age of 23, while each team may include three older footballers in its squad. Poland last played at the Olympic Games in 1992 in Barcelona, where they reached the final and won silver medals. The captain of that team was Jerzy Brzęczek.
Polish footballers also won Olympic gold in 1972 in Munich and became silver medallists at the 1976 Games in Montreal.
