Storm Hunter qualified for all Grand Slam tournaments
Australian tennis player Storm Hunter has qualified for the main draw of the US Open for the first time in her career. As a result, the 32-year-old became the only active Australian female tennis player to reach the main draws of all four Grand Slam tournaments through qualifying, ABC News Australia reports.
Three qualifying victories
In her first qualifying match, Hunter defeated her compatriot Maddison Inglis. In the second match, she saved two match points and then claimed her third consecutive victory. Due to weather conditions, the tennis player had to wait 24 hours to complete qualifying.
Hunter said that the US Open was the last Grand Slam tournament where she still needed to make it through qualifying. According to her, she had played few singles matches over the previous several months before the qualifying event.

Match against Marta Kostyuk
In the first round of the US Open main draw, Hunter will play 11th seed Marta Kostyuk. Kostyuk enters the tournament after reaching the semifinals of the French Open and Wimbledon.
Hunter returned to the main draw at Flushing Meadows for the first time since 2023. She missed more than a year due to a ruptured Achilles tendon. The Australian called the upcoming match difficult but said she was ready for the challenge and wanted to enjoy the game.
