Shakhtar legend Jadson will play in a promotional match in Russia

Brazilian Jadson, the former captain of Donetsk’s “Shakhtar,” will play in the farewell match for former CSKA Moscow forward Wagner Love. The match will take place on September 26, 2026, in Moscow at the VEB Arena. 

Jadson will play for the “Friends of Wagner Love” team. Joining him on the team will be former Lokomotiv and Russian national team goalkeeper Marinato Guilherme, as well as former Brazilian national team player Renato Augusto.

Wagner Love’s farewell match between “CSKA Legends” and “Wagner Love’s Friends” is scheduled for September 26 at the VEB Arena. The match will begin at 8:00 p.m. Moscow time.

The “CSKA Legends” roster has already been announced to include, among others, Dmitry Kuznetsov and Elvir Rahimic, and the brothers Alexei and Vasily Berezutsky, Miloš Krasić, Zoran Tošić, and Mark González are also expected to participate.

The very fact that such a match is being held in Russia comes against the backdrop of the international isolation of Russian national teams and clubs from official FIFA and UEFA tournaments. In February 2022, both organizations suspended Russian teams from their competitions until further notice.

As a result, organizers may use large-scale soccer events like this in Russia to showcase the participation of well-known foreign players, despite Russian soccer’s suspension from international tournaments.

Jadson played for Donetsk’s “Shakhtar” from 2005 to 2012 and is one of the most famous foreign players in the club’s history. During that time, the Brazilian won the Ukrainian championship five times, the Ukrainian Cup twice, and the Ukrainian Super Cup twice.

The highlight of his career with the “Miners” was the 2008–09 UEFA Cup final against Werder Bremen. Jadson scored the winning goal in extra time, bringing Shakhtar its first European trophy in the club’s history.

In total, the Brazilian played 272 matches for the Donetsk team and scored 64 goals. In January 2012, Jadson left Shakhtar and returned to Brazil.

From 2011 to 2013, Jadson played for the Brazilian national team.

He played eight matches for the national team and scored one goal. In 2013, the Brazilian won the Confederations Cup.

Thus, Jadson, who gained international fame thanks to his performances for Shakhtar, will play in Wagner Love’s farewell match in Moscow on September 26. Moscow’s CSKA continues to announce the participants in the event in stages.

CSKA Moscow has officially confirmed his participation in the match.

As a reminder, Yegor Yarmolyuk, a midfielder for England’s Brentford, will miss the Ukrainian national team’s upcoming matches in the 2026/27 Nations League due to health issues. The player explained that his club has scheduled a period of full rehabilitation for him during the international break.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian national soccer team will not be able to play its home matches in the new Nations League season at the Henrik Reiman Stadium. 

Following the conclusion of the Nations League group stage, Volleyball World announced the winners of the statistical awards. Among the recipients of individual awards was Ukrainian volleyball player Dmytro Yanchuk.
