Trump says AI does not need additional regulation

In the United States, President Donald Trump said that artificial intelligence does not need additional regulation and criticized Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei. In a Truth Social post, he responded to Amodei’s calls to urgently slow the development of artificial intelligence technologies.

Trump’s statements on AI oversight

Trump wrote that the only oversight or “guardrails” needed for AI are a strong and smart president. He also said that his administration has significant criminal and regulatory powers over AI companies.

The president claimed that the Trump administration had already stopped industry representatives from actions he described as bad or potentially bad. In this context, he mentioned Amodei and said that he is now trying to appear blameless.

Data centers and competition with China

The Trump administration generally supports the rapid growth of the artificial intelligence industry and the construction of data centers in the United States, considering the race for dominance in this field existentially important.

Trump also claimed that there is supposedly a “sick conspiracy” against AI and data centers and asserted that China benefits from it. He added that the United States, according to him, is ahead of China and other countries in AI development.

As CNBC Top News reports, Anthropic did not immediately comment in response to the president’s statements.
