The lawyer denies Yermak's involvement in the laundering of 460 million hryvnias

Lawyer Ihor Fomin has officially stated that the charges brought against Andriy Yermak, the former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, are baseless.

This was reported by Suspilne.

The defense attorney denies any involvement of his client in a scheme to launder 460 million hryvnias during the construction of luxury real estate in the Kyiv region.

According to the lawyer, the defense considers this criminal case to be the result of artificial public pressure on law enforcement agencies.

Fomin emphasized that the case file lacks any real evidence linking the developers’ financial transactions to the former official’s activities.

“You don’t have to be a professional lawyer to ask yourself: whose funds was Yermak supposed to launder in some construction project? In my opinion, this whole situation has been provoked by this public pressure,” the lawyer noted on the air of “Suspilne Studio.”

The lawyer emphasized that the procedural actions of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau came as a complete surprise to the defense team.

Currently, the lawyers are conducting a detailed analysis of the materials provided to prepare a thorough legal response to the charges brought.

Fomin paid particular attention to the issue of audio recordings, which feature in the investigation as evidence against members of the organized group.

He questioned the identification of the individuals in these recordings and their connection to his client.

“Well, the tapes—what do we have to do with any tapes? Did you hear Mr. Yermak’s voice there even once?” Fomin added during a discussion of the investigation’s details.

Former Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak stated on the evening of May 11, after receiving a notice of suspicion from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, that he would not comment on anything during the investigation.
