Lightning struck near a body of water in Volyn; 7 people were injured
An emergency occurred in Volyn during adverse weather conditions: seven people, including four minors, were injured when lightning struck near a body of water.
All of the victims lost consciousness due to the powerful electrical discharge and were rushed to the hospital to receive professional medical care.
The incident occurred in the village of Ozero, in the Kivertsi district. According to the National Police, law enforcement officers and ambulance crews arrived at the scene promptly.
Police officers actively assisted medical personnel in transporting the victims to ambulances while simultaneously interviewing witnesses to determine the full circumstances of the tragedy.
“In the village of Ozero, in the Kivertsi district, a lightning strike occurred near a body of water. As a result, seven people lost consciousness, four of whom were minors. A local police unit and medical personnel arrived promptly at the scene, and the victims were hospitalized. Police officers helped load the victims into ambulances, interviewed witnesses, and documented the damage,” the National Police press service reported.
In addition to this incident, severe weather caused significant damage to infrastructure in other districts of the region. In particular, numerous instances of damage to buildings and vehicles were reported in the Lutsk and Kovel districts due to strong winds and thunderstorms.
Law enforcement officials emphasize the need to follow safety rules during severe weather conditions.
Citizens are strongly urged to minimize their time outdoors during severe weather. Isolated trees, advertising structures, metal structures, and power lines pose a particular danger during thunderstorms.
People relaxing near bodies of water are advised to immediately leave the shoreline and seek safe shelter indoors.
