DOT has contracted to supply 40,000 tactical headsets to the Defense Forces

The Defense Procurement Agency (DOTA) has fully contracted the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ requirement for tactical headphones for 2026. A total of 40,000 units of equipment were procured.

During the procurement process, stricter requirements were established for noise protection, reliability, and functionality of the tactical ear protection.

Tactical headphones serve several important functions at once. They protect service members’ hearing from excessive noise, gunfire, and explosions, while allowing them to hear commands, signals, and ambient sounds.

The DOT established a number of additional requirements for the procurement of this equipment.

Specifically, tactical headphones must provide:

  • a noise reduction level (SNR) of at least 28 dB;
  • compliance with military standards MIL-STD-810H and MIL-STD-461G;
  • stable operation at temperatures ranging from -20 to +50 degrees;
  • the use of flame-retardant materials;
  • compatibility with combat ballistic helmets;
  • Volume control;
  • battery-saving mode.

The procurement of tactical headphones meeting NATO standards was first announced last year.

At that time, technical specifications were developed with enhanced requirements for hearing protection, functionality, and reliability of the equipment.

As a result, the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ need for tactical headphones through 2026 has been fully contracted—a total of 40,000 units with enhanced protection and performance characteristics were procured.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defense.

As a reminder, the Defense Procurement Agency (DOTA) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has contracted for the supply of 99.5% of the verified needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Special Transport Service for winter clothing and equipment for the 2026–2027 season.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine approved the Shablya MK19(M) remotely controlled combat module for use by the military. It is equipped with an MK19 40-mm automatic grenade launcher.

The Ministry of Defense has standardized and authorized the use of “Nebokray” mobile workshops within the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The system is designed for the repair and maintenance of drones.
