European Commission approves €6.1 billion for Ukraine’s defense procurement
According to Anadolu Agency, the European Commission has approved an additional €6.1 billion, or $7.1 billion, for Ukraine to procure defense products. The funding is intended to strengthen Kyiv’s ability to counter more intensive Russian ballistic missile and drone attacks.
Procurement for air and missile defense
The funds are allocated for the purchase of air defense and missile defense systems, ammunition, drones, and electronic warfare equipment. The European Commission’s statement says that the funding is aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

Von der Leyen’s statement
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the approval of the funding in a post on X. According to her, the funds will help Ukraine procure defense products in the areas of air and missile defense, ammunition, drones, and electronic warfare.
The approved additional funding amounts to €6.1 billion. Its dollar equivalent is $7.1 billion.
