Kateryna Shklyoda has been appointed the new secretary of the Lutsk City Council

During a session on March 25, members of the Lutsk City Council elected a new municipal secretary. Following a secret ballot, Kateryna Shklyoda was appointed to the position.

Reportedly, she was the only candidate put forward for consideration by the relevant committees and the session hall.

A majority of council members supported her candidacy, allowing Shklyoda to officially assume office.

Kateryna Shklyoda was born in the city of Kostanay (Kazakhstan) and graduated from Lutsk Gymnasium No. 21 named after Mykhailo Kravchuk. She received her higher education at Lutsk National Technical University, majoring in “Ecology and Environmental Protection” and “Finance.”

Since 2020, she has served as a member of the Lutsk City Council representing the “For the Future” party. From 2017 to 2019, she worked as the head of the Family and Youth Division within the Lutsk City Council’s Department of Family, Youth, and Sports, and also served as the deputy director of that department.

In October 2025, she became the representative of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights in the Volyn region.

According to her 2025 declaration, Shklyoda owns two apartments (one jointly owned with her parents, the other is her personal property with an area of 58.7 square meters, purchased in 2021 for 300,000 UAH), as well as a 2015 Mazda, which she purchased in 2025 for 254,400 UAH.

Earlier, council members supported the decision to terminate the powers of Mayor Ihor Polishchuk and City Council Secretary Yuriy Bezpyatko ahead of schedule. Thirty-eight council members voted for the mayor’s resignation, and 36 voted for the secretary’s dismissal.

The reasons for the personnel changes were not officially specified.
