A Kharkiv resident will stand trial for plotting a terrorist attack on a gas pipeline at the behest of Russia

The prosecutor's office has referred to court the case of a 54-year-old Kharkiv resident accused of treason and plotting a terrorist attack on a major gas pipeline.

This was reported by the press service of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the investigation, in the fall of 2025, the man was recruited by Russian special services via the Telegram messenger to blow up a key section of gas pipelines in the region. The suspect set up a workshop in his parents’ barn in the Berestynsky district, where, following instructions from his handlers, he manufactured an explosive device and hid it in the attic.

During searches, law enforcement officers discovered a homemade bomb and a phone containing evidence of communication with Russian intelligence operatives. In addition to preparing the terrorist attack, the accused passed information to the enemy regarding the deployment of Ukrainian Armed Forces units and checkpoints in the Kharkiv region. The man has been in custody since October 2025 and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property. The investigation also established a connection between the Russian handler in this case and another group of traitors who had previously blown up a Ukrainian military vehicle. Preparations for the trial on the merits of the case are currently underway.

A Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier who directed Russian strikes on Ukrainian positions in the Kursk region has been convicted.

As a reminder, the SBU detained a spotter for Russian strikes on Chernivtsi.

The SBU also exposed a Russian spy network that was planning terrorist attacks using teenagers.
