Kurt Volker has joined DTEK's Advisory Board

Kurt Volker, former U.S. State Department Special Representative for Ukraine, has joined DTEK’s Advisory Board. The company expects his experience to help with energy security, Ukraine’s recovery, and attracting international investment.

Volker himself stated that he wants to support the development of Ukraine’s energy sector and help the company implement new projects amid the war and during post-war reconstruction.

The company noted that Kurt Volker has become a new member of the Advisory Board—a body that helps determine the strategic direction of Ukraine’s largest private energy investor. DTEK explained that Volker will advise the company on energy security, the restoration of energy infrastructure, international cooperation, and attracting long-term investments.

He will also help strengthen the partnership between Ukraine and the United States in the energy sector. Kurt Volker is well known for his longstanding support of Ukraine. From 2017 to 2019, he served as the U.S. State Department’s Special Representative for Ukraine. Prior to that, he served as U.S. Ambassador to NATO, was Acting Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs, and held senior positions at NATO and in the U.S. Senate.

DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko emphasized that Volker’s experience will be invaluable to the company during the recovery of Ukraine’s energy sector. “Kurt Volker has been a long-time supporter of Ukraine for many years and is one of the most authoritative voices on transatlantic security issues. His experience will be invaluable as Ukraine transitions from resilience to recovery and works to attract the long-term investments needed to rebuild its energy system,” Timchenko said.

Kurt Volker himself noted that DTEK plays an important role not only for Ukraine but also for the European energy market. “DTEK is a vital component of Ukraine’s energy security and a major player in European energy markets,” he stated.

According to Volker, he aims to support the company in strengthening the country’s energy security, developing modern technologies, and implementing projects that will help the Ukrainian energy sector become even more resilient.

DTEK emphasizes that bringing in international experts of this caliber should help the company work more effectively on restoring energy infrastructure, seeking new investments, and developing partnerships with Western countries. This was reported by DTEK.

No power outage schedules are planned for Ukraine on Sunday, July 12. At the same time, energy officials are urging Ukrainians to use electricity sparingly, especially during hours when the load on the grid can be reduced.
