Lubinec Discussed New Mechanisms for Prisoner Exchanges with the Russian Ombudswoman

Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, reported on a meeting with Russian Ombudswoman Yana Lantratova, during which the parties discussed additional mechanisms for the exchange of prisoners of war and other humanitarian issues.

According to Lubinets, he delivered a letter from the families of Ukrainian servicemen who were affected by the events in Olenivka. They also raised the issues of searching for and verifying the whereabouts of those missing in action, monitoring the conditions of detention for Ukrainian prisoners of war, and the release of civilian hostages.

Separately, the parties discussed the mutual exchange of letters and packages between prisoners of war and their families. Following the meeting, they agreed to further expand humanitarian cooperation.

Ukraine carried out another prisoner exchange and brought home 160 soldiers who had been held captive by Russia since 2022. Among those released are defenders from various units who fought on the front lines in the fiercest areas of combat. All of them are now back on Ukrainian soil and are receiving the necessary assistance.
