Myrotvorets has added the head of Yad Vashem to its database
Following criticism from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the reburial of Andriy Melnyk in Ukraine, the “Myrotvorets” website added Dana Dayan, the director of Israel’s Holocaust Memorial, to its database. The website’s entry lists the allegations against him and outlines its position on his activities. The incident has already sparked a new wave of international debate.
The “Myrotvorets” website, which maintains a public registry of individuals it considers hostile to Ukraine, following statements by Yad Vashem and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the state funeral of one of the OUN leaders, Andriy Melnyk, added Dana Dayan, the head of the Israeli National Holocaust Memorial Complex, to its database, marking another step in the escalation of informational and diplomatic tensions between the parties.
The explanatory section on the website lists a number of complaints against the head of Yad Vashem, including accusations of alleged actions aimed at inciting inter-state and inter-ethnic tensions between Ukraine and Israel, as well as the dissemination of propaganda narratives described there as harmful to Ukraine. “Deliberate, systematic actions aimed at inciting interethnic and interstate discord between Israel and Ukraine,” reads the description published on the website, which also contains other formulations of the accusations and references to news articles as “evidence.”
It is separately noted that the basis for the listing was statements by Yad Vashem and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which had previously condemned the reburial of Andriy Melnyk with state honors, a move that led to a further escalation of public debate surrounding historical assessments and contemporary memory policies.
The situation has already sparked a reaction in the media, where this move is viewed as a continuation of the conflict over the interpretation of historical events and the role of certain figures in shared European memory.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially lodged a strong protest over the state reburial ceremony for Andriy Melnyk, one of the leaders of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists.
