Ihor Polishchuk, the mayor of Lutsk, has resigned

Members of the Lutsk City Council reviewed Mayor Ihor Polishchuk’s resignation letter and voted to accept it.

This was reported by local media.

Thirty-eight council members decided to take note of Polischuk’s request to resign and to terminate his term early.

“This resignation is not related to either the NABU or the audit; no one confiscated my phone, and I am unaware of any proceedings against me. I do not consider it necessary to elaborate on the circumstances that prompted me to do this,” Polischuk stated.

Ihor Polischuk has headed the Lutsk City Council since November 2020. Prior to that, starting in 2017, he served as secretary of the city council, acting mayor, and then advisor to the mayor of Lutsk.

Council members also supported the decision to terminate the powers of Lutsk City Council Secretary Yuriy Bezpyatko ahead of schedule.

Earlier, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Malyuk, agreed to resign. At first, he refused to transfer to the Foreign Intelligence Service or the National Security and Defense Council, but later gave his consent.
