In Bukovina, the water utility will restrict water supply due to mass layoffs

In Bukovina, the water utility will restrict water supply due to mass layoffs

In the city of Kitsman, Chernivtsi Oblast, the local water utility is implementing a restricted water supply schedule for apartment buildings and businesses. Water will be supplied only on weekdays; there will be no water supply on weekends.

This decision was prompted by a severe shortage of staff at the utility. Over the past six months, about 20 people have resigned from the Kitsman Housing and Utilities Department.

This was reported by Yaroslav Yaremii, director of the Kitsman Department of Housing and Public Utilities.

According to him, the company has not been granted “critical infrastructure” status, which means it cannot retain its employees. This, in turn, makes it difficult to ensure the necessary number of staff for the uninterrupted operation of the water utility.

The company explained that due to a shortage of specialists, it can no longer guarantee round-the-clock maintenance of the water supply systems.

“Due to an acute shortage of operational and maintenance personnel, the company no longer has the physical capacity to ensure round-the-clock service of pumping stations and water supply networks,” the statement reads.

As a result, residents of apartment buildings and businesses in Kitsman will be without water on weekends. These necessary restrictions are directly related to the staffing situation at the local water utility.

This was reported by “Suspilne.Chernivtsi.”

In Chernivtsi, starting September 22, water will be supplied at reduced pressure, which may cause water outages on the upper floors of high-rise buildings.

Due to power outages caused by Russian aggression, water supply has been restricted in Sumy.
