In the Lviv region, unknown vandals damaged a statue of the Virgin Mary

In Zhovkva, Lviv Oblast, unknown individuals doused a statue of the Virgin Mary located in the city’s central square—Vicheva Square—with a red liquid. Local authorities stated that this is the first such incident in the city’s history, in which vandals have desecrated a religious shrine. Officials have already contacted the National Police.

This became known after a post on Facebook by Ihor Muravskyi, head of the municipal enterprise “Zhovkivske MVUZHKH.”

 

For the first time in Zhovkva’s history
Information about the incident was made public by Ihor Muravskyi, head of the municipal enterprise “Zhovkva City Housing and Utilities Management.” According to him, nothing like this has ever happened in the city before. Muravsky appealed to the National Police, demanding that they take all necessary measures to identify the perpetrators and bring them to criminal justice.

“For the first time in the history of our city of Zhovkva, an act of vandalism was committed against the statue of the Mother of God located on Vicheva Square.
We ask the National Police to take all measures to identify and bring these monsters to criminal justice,” he wrote.

Earlier in the Rivne region, unknown vandals desecrated the grave of hero Nazarii Tartachnyi.

In addition, unknown individuals defaced the Czech Embassy in Moscow: Prague is preparing a note of protest.

And in Rome, vandals desecrated the monument to Pope John Paul II.
