In the Rivne region, a mother tried to sell her three children to force them into begging

In the Rivne region, law enforcement officials have arrested a 39-year-old woman suspected of trafficking her own children and involving her underage daughter in the sale of psychotropic substances. According to the investigation, the woman planned to receive 60,000 hryvnias for handing over three children to be used for begging.

According to the investigation, the suspect handed over her two sons, aged 9 and 14, and her 11-year-old daughter to a stranger for the purpose of labor exploitation.

Under the agreement, the children were to be taken to the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, where they were supposed to beg.

The woman received 30,000 hryvnias for handing over the children and planned to receive another 30,000 hryvnias upon their return. However, law enforcement officers detained her while she was carrying out the criminal scheme.

In addition, investigators determined that the woman had used her own daughter to sell drugs. According to the investigation, she used the child to pass a particularly dangerous psychotropic substance to a buyer.

After the arrest, the two boys and the girl were removed from the family. Law enforcement officials also reported that, prior to being exposed, the family had not been registered with child welfare services.

The woman was charged under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: human trafficking (Article 149, Part 3) and the illegal sale of particularly dangerous psychotropic substances involving a child (Article 307, Parts 2 and 3).

Under the most serious of these charges, she faces up to 15 years in prison.

The court has already ordered the suspect to be held in pretrial detention without the right to bail. Law enforcement officials are continuing the pretrial investigation.

This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine and the Rivne Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

Earlier, in the Volyn region, law enforcement officers caught a 39-year-old woman who was attempting to sell her own six-year-old son. According to the investigation, she planned to receive $25,000 for the child.

In Zaporizhzhia, law enforcement officials apprehended a 22-year-old woman suspected of selling her one-month-old daughter. According to the investigation, the child was handed over to another woman in exchange for money and additional “services.” The infant is currently safe, and the mother faces up to 15 years in prison.
