Queues have formed at the border with Moldova on the Odesa–Reni highway due to a damaged bridge
In Odesa Region, border crossing points on the Odesa–Reni highway are operating, but traffic toward Odesa and toward the border with Moldova is complicated due to damage to a bridge near the village of Maiaky.
This was reported during a television broadcast by Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Demchenko noted that the situation is linked to enemy actions, which are making it difficult for people entering from Moldova to travel deeper into Ukraine.
Despite the continued operation of the Palanka, Starokozache, Reni, and Orlivka border crossing points, travelers are being advised to choose alternative routes.
The spokesperson emphasized that law enforcement agencies are carrying out explanatory work with drivers. By the end of the day, a reduction in queues near the bridge had already been observed, as citizens became aware of the complexity of the situation.
“We are conducting information outreach and have also involved our Moldovan colleagues to explain to people that due to enemy actions and the damage to the bridge near the settlement of Maiaky, it is difficult to pass through these border crossing points further into Ukrainian territory, which is why alternative directions are being proposed,” he added.
It was also reported that traffic on this section of the road was temporarily blocked due to the consequences of a Russian air attack, which has already led to restrictions at the border with Moldova.
On December 18, 2025, at around 4:00 p.m., during a drone attack on Odesa Region, a woman was killed while she was transporting three children in a car.
Russian forces attacked the Dnipropetrovsk region with FPV drones and artillery.
Russian troops also carried out another missile strike on Zaporizhzhia.
