The People's Satellite transmitted nearly 6,000 images to the Main Intelligence Directorate

The People's Satellite transmitted nearly 6,000 images to the Main Intelligence Directorate

Since September 2022, specialists from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine have obtained more than 5,900 satellite radar images through the "People's Satellite" project. With its help, Ukrainian intelligence uses the data to strike enemy targets and inflict billions in losses on the aggressor.

This was reported bythe Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The GUR’s space intelligence units receive fresh satellite images daily, and this data is used to track objects in the occupied territories and on the territory of the aggressor state, Russia; to identify enemy military targets; to plan their destruction; and to assess the consequences of our strikes.

“In modern warfare, access to space technologies plays a crucial role, and the ‘People’s Satellite’ has become Ukraine’s first sharp eyes in orbit—we see where to aim, we understand what to use to strike more effectively, and we have control over the consequences of our strikes. The Russian aggressor’s multi-billion-dollar losses—these are the results, including those from the “People’s Satellite,” that strengthen our resilience, and this systematic work continues,” emphasized Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

SAR radar observation technology allows for image acquisition regardless of the time of day, cloud cover, or weather conditions, and the resolution of individual images can reach up to 0.25 m/pixel. A single image can cover an area of up to 225 km².

“People’s Satellite” is a project implemented in 2022 thanks to an initiative by Serhiy Prytula’s Charitable Foundation, as a result of which, thanks to the generosity of concerned citizens and businesses, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine received control of a satellite from the Finnish aerospace company ICEYE and access to the ICEYE satellite image database. And this investment in Ukrainian security has long since proven its effectiveness.

We thank the Serhiy Prytula Charitable Foundation and all Ukrainians who contributed to the fundraising and made this project a reality.

The Main Intelligence Directorate confirmed preparations for a new phase of the “1,000 for 1,000” prisoner exchange: who might be returned.

As a reminder, Ukraine is preparing a large-scale prisoner exchange with Russia, mediated by the U.S.

According to Yury Ushakov, an advisor to the Russian dictator, Ukraine and Russia are currently working on lists of people who could be included in the exchange. “Today, the agencies of the Russian Federation and Ukraine are to finalize the lists for the prisoner-of-war exchange within the framework of the ceasefire. A 1,000-for-1,000 prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine could take place fairly quickly if the lists are agreed upon,” Ushakov told Russian media.

The Kremlin also stated that the negotiation process regarding Ukraine is currently on hold and the date of the next round is unknown. Officials there speak of the need for “conditions” that the parties must fulfill before resuming dialogue.
