The NBU lowered the exchange rates for the dollar and the euro as of August 27
The National Bank of Ukraine lowered the official exchange rates for the dollar and the euro on Thursday, August 27. The U.S. dollar fell by 10 kopecks, and the euro by 8 kopecks.
The National Bank of Ukraine set the official exchange rate of the hryvnia against foreign currencies for Thursday, August 27. According to the NBU, the dollar exchange rate fell from 44.67 to 44.57 hryvnia. Thus, the U.S. dollar fell by 10 kopecks.
The euro also showed a slight decline. Its official exchange rate fell from 52.08 to 52.00 hryvnia, or by 8 kopecks. Consequently, as of August 27, the National Bank set the following official exchange rates:
- 1 U.S. dollar — 44.57 UAH;
- 1 euro — 52.00 UAH.
A decrease in the official exchange rate does not mean that foreign currency will be bought or sold at exactly these prices in banks and currency exchange offices. The cash exchange rate may vary depending on the institution, demand, and the situation on the foreign exchange market.
The NBU’s official exchange rate is used, in particular, for accounting calculations, financial reporting, and other transactions where the official ratio of the hryvnia to foreign currencies is required. The regulator publishes exchange rate data daily on its official website.
Thus, on Thursday, the hryvnia slightly strengthened against both major currencies: the dollar fell below the 44.60 hryvnia mark, and the euro dropped to 52 hryvnia. This is evidenced by data on the National Bank of Ukraine’s website.
On August 26, the National Bank lowered the official exchange rates for major currencies.
On the morning of August 25, the dollar was selling for an average of 44.85 UAH at currency exchange offices, while the euro was selling for 52.25 UAH. At banks, the average selling rate for the dollar is about 44.95 UAH, while the NBU’s official rate is 44.71 UAH.
