OGP finally settled its accounts with Kravchenko after his dismissal
The Office of the Prosecutor General settled the final accounts with Ruslan Kravchenko following his dismissal from the position of Prosecutor General. He was paid his salary and compensation for all unused annual leave days, though the Office of the Prosecutor General did not disclose the specific amount of the payment.
The Office of the Prosecutor General finalized its settlement with Ruslan Kravchenko following his resignation. The former Prosecutor General was paid the funds owed to him and compensation for all unused annual leave days. The Office of the Prosecutor General reported that the final settlement was made in connection with Kravchenko’s dismissal effective September 22. “In connection with his dismissal effective September 22, 2026, a final payroll settlement was made, and compensation for all unused vacation days was calculated and paid,” the Office of the Prosecutor General stated in its response.
This refers to the compensation provided for under Article 24 of the Law of Ukraine “On Vacation.” It provides for a monetary payment for days of annual leave not taken by an employee in cases specified by law. However, the OGP did not specify exactly how much money Kravchenko received. Therefore, it is currently impossible to state the exact amount of his final settlement.
Kravchenko Remained a Prosecutor After His Dismissal
After being dismissed from the position of Prosecutor General, Kravchenko continued to work within the prosecutor’s office system for some time. In accordance with the law, he retained his status as a prosecutor in the Office of the Prosecutor General. On September 21, it became known that Kravchenko had submitted his resignation from the prosecutor’s office. The OGP explained that after his term as Prosecutor General ended, he remained an ordinary prosecutor at the Office of the Prosecutor General.
Thus, this is not merely a matter of ceasing to serve as Prosecutor General. The final settlement pertained to the conclusion of his service within the prosecutorial system and the payments to which he was entitled by law. That is precisely why the Office of the Prosecutor General separately announced compensation for unused vacation time.
What is known about Kravchenko’s business trip
On the eve of his dismissal, Kravchenko was abroad. According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, on September 13, he departed on a five-day official business trip to France. The office reported that during the trip, he was to participate in a hearing of the PACE Parliamentary Network. Kravchenko himself also stated that he was abroad on a business trip.
The Office of the Prosecutor General explained that an employee’s position and place of work are retained for the duration of the business trip. Compensation for this period is paid in accordance with established conditions but cannot be less than the average earnings for the corresponding workdays. This rule applies to prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General, including Ruslan Kravchenko.
In other words, the business trip itself did not mean that his pay was suspended. During the business trip, he remained an employee of the OGP, and his employment rights were preserved.
Kravchenko’s dismissal occurred amid a conflict with NABU and the SAPO
Ruslan Kravchenko’s dismissal occurred against the backdrop of a conflict surrounding his actions regarding anti-corruption agencies. Specifically, Kravchenko stated that he had signed a notice of suspicion against NABU Director Semen Kryvonos and a person close to the head of the SAP. NABU and the SAP described Kravchenko’s actions as a continuation of a systematic attack on anti-corruption agencies. At the same time, the Office of the Prosecutor General denied specific reports that a notice of suspicion had allegedly been served on Kryvonos.
On September 14, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy suspended Kravchenko from his position as Prosecutor General, and on September 15, he signed a decree dismissing him. After that, Kravchenko remained a prosecutor with the Office of the Prosecutor General until he submitted his resignation from the prosecutor’s office.
Now, the Office of the Prosecutor General has announced the final settlement with him. It included his salary and compensation for all unused days of annual leave. The Office of the Prosecutor General has not yet disclosed the exact amount of this payment. This is stated in the Office’s response to a request from “Censor.NET.”
Former Prosecutor General Kravchenko did not return to work after his business trip.
Former Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko has permanently left the prosecutor’s office following his resignation from the post of Prosecutor General. He submitted his resignation, after which Acting Prosecutor General Anton Kovalsky signed the corresponding order.
