A member of the second convocation of the Verkhovna Rada, who helped draft the Constitution of Ukraine, has died

Vyacheslav Belsky, a Ukrainian politician and member of the second convocation of the Verkhovna Rada, has passed away at the age of 79. The leadership and staff of the Ukrainian Parliament expressed their deepest condolences to the family, loved ones, friends, and former colleagues of this distinguished statesman, who was among the founders of the modern country’s legislative framework.

As a member of the Verkhovna Rada of the 2nd convocation, Vyacheslav Belsky actively served on the specialized Committee on Agrarian Policy, Land Resources, and Rural Social Development. He left a significant mark on the nation’s history as one of the elected representatives who directly participated in the historic vote to adopt the country’s Constitution in June 1996.

Parliament noted that the late legislator belonged to the cohort of politicians who laid the solid foundations of modern Ukrainian statehood and sovereignty. Colleagues and like-minded individuals remember him as a principled legislator, an expert in agricultural affairs, and a man who devoted a significant part of his life to building an independent Ukraine.

This was reported by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Valery Semenyuk, a military doctor and polar explorer who participated in three Antarctic expeditions during his career, died at the age of 59. Colleagues remember him as a man with a big heart, high professionalism, and exceptional integrity.

Media professional Volodymyr Fomichenko-Zakutsky was killed in the war.
