Rutte emphasized Sweden's strong support for Ukraine

Sweden is demonstrating exemplary support for Ukraine and strengthening the collective security of the North Atlantic Alliance through its unique defense technologies.

This was stated by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte during a joint press conference with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

The meeting between the leaders took place on the eve of the NATO Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Helsingborg.

Stockholm is not only supplying the Ukrainian Armed Forces with ready-to-use modern weapons, but is also actively financing the Ukrainian defense industry.

Swedish investments are helping to scale up domestic production of unmanned aerial vehicles and missiles directly within Ukraine.

In addition, the country ensures a stable supply of ammunition through specialized international rapid logistics mechanisms.

The Alliance’s Secretary General separately noted the importance of Sweden’s contribution to the PURL initiative, which ensures critical supplies to the front lines.

Mark Rutte urged other partners not to delay and to follow Stockholm’s example. He emphasized that funding the Ukrainian military is a pragmatic step to protect all of Europe.

“Sweden remains a steadfast supporter of Ukraine—its military aid includes tanks, combat vehicles, advanced weapon systems, ammunition, training, and aerial surveillance and command aircraft,” he said, adding that Sweden also supports Ukraine’s defense industry, particularly through the production of drones and missiles, as well as through direct investment.

Sweden makes a significant contribution to NATO’s overall deterrence system thanks to its own high-tech developments and unique experience in preparing society.

Allies pay particular attention to Sweden’s national civil defense system, which integrates every citizen into defense processes. This experience is becoming increasingly relevant for other European countries amid growing global threats.
