Rutte stated that U.S. weapons are being supplied to Ukraine without interruption via PURL

Deliveries of U.S. weapons to Ukraine under the PURL mechanism are continuing without interruption. Specifically, this includes critically important equipment and air defense systems.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte made this statement on September 8 during a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the “Ramstein” format.

According to him, over the past year, allies have allocated more than $10 billion to the PURL and the program for the sale of U.S. military equipment to Ukraine. Rutte emphasized that these deliveries are intended to help Ukraine defend its cities and hold the front line.

Separately, the NATO Secretary General highlighted Europe’s contribution, specifically the $3.5 billion loan to support Ukraine. He called this an important example of EU-NATO cooperation and urged partners to continue bilateral funding for the PURL.

Rutte also noted that Russia is adapting its attacks and is increasingly using North Korean missiles and jet-powered drones. In this regard, he said, Ukraine needs continued support from its allies to counter both new and existing threats.

“Ukraine needs our support to address these old and new challenges,” Rutte emphasized.

U.S. President Donald Trump shared an article from The Washington Post on his social media platform, Truth Social, in which the author proposes allowing Ukraine to manufacture Patriot interceptor missiles. The article states that such a decision could simultaneously help Ukraine and reduce the burden on American and European arms production.

Deliveries of U.S. weapons to Ukraine under the PURL initiative continue, despite Donald Trump’s statements about a temporary suspension of ammunition exports. NATO has confirmed that under the program, Ukraine receives 75% of its Patriot missiles and 90% of its air defense ammunition funded by allies and partners.
