Shmyhal Briefed Zelenskyy on the Energy Sector's Readiness for Winter

First Deputy Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and provided an update on the state of Ukraine’s energy system ahead of the winter season. He outlined the key needs that international partners should help address.

“Efforts to restore electricity to Ukrainian households following shelling continue
every day. The challenges are particularly acute in cities and villages in regions near the front lines and along the border with Russia. It is important that the necessary equipment reserves have been established. We have also identified tasks for working with Ukraine’s partners in the near future: what political, financial, and purely technical agreements are needed now, in August, as well as in September, before the start of the heating season. We are counting on the support of specific countries. For security reasons, we are not disclosing the details at this time,” wrote the President of Ukraine.

This is stated in a post by Volodymyr Zelenskyy on his Telegram page.

As a reminder, the Kharkiv region has received a new 25 MVA power transformer, which will be used to ensure the operation of the region’s critical energy infrastructure.

Ukraine is already preparing its power grid for the upcoming heating season, which is forecast to be no less challenging than the previous one.
