Two fires were brought under control in the Chernobyl zone

Rescue workers have extinguished two fires in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone and are continuing to work on another section. The fire was successfully contained, so it did not spread to a larger area.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that the situation remains under control. Rescuers also confirmed that the background radiation level in the exclusion zone is within normal limits. SES specialists continue to extinguish fires in the forest litter and dry fallen trees in one of the areas. Currently, the main task is to completely eliminate this fire and prevent the flames from spreading again.

Rescue workers have already managed to completely extinguish two other fire sites. “The situation is under control. Firefighting operations are ongoing,” the State Emergency Service noted. Rescue workers are also continuing to monitor radiation levels. According to their data, no exceedances of background radiation levels have been recorded. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.

In the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, rescue workers have eliminated the risk of the fires—which were caused by the crash of Russian drones—spreading. SES specialists have contained all fire outbreaks and continue to monitor the situation within the zone. The fires broke out after debris from enemy UAVs fell.
