A suspected serial pedophile has been arrested in Khmelnytskyi
In Khmelnytskyi, law enforcement officers detained a 50-year-old local resident suspected of committing sexual offenses against children.
According to the investigation, the suspect used popular social media platforms and mobile messaging apps to search for and establish contact with young girls. The perpetrator systematically sent the children text and multimedia messages of an indecent nature, persistently encouraged them to engage in conversations on intimate topics, and also offered to arrange in-person meetings.
A special operation to expose and apprehend the suspect took place on Monday, June 1, 2026. Currently, police investigators have officially charged the detained man with committing a criminal offense under Part 3 of Article 156-1 (Solicitation of a Child for Sexual Purposes) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The penalty under this article provides for severe punishment in the form of imprisonment. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing; law enforcement officers are determining the exact number of child victims and examining the suspect’s digital devices for prohibited content.
